The Kano State Hospitals Management Board's Executive Secretary, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, has sanctioned the immediate suspension of a physician at the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital accused of abandoning patients.
The action follows grievances lodged by both patients and hospital staff, citing the physician's departure from the premises without notifying hospital authorities.
Dr. Nagoda reported that despite multiple attempts to contact her, the physician claimed to be present at the hospital but failed to appear, critically affecting a patient awaiting dialysis.
The Executive Secretary emphasized that the physician's suspension remains in effect until the conclusion of the ongoing inquiry.
Dr. Nagoda insisted on strict adherence to duty schedules, warning that any negligence would be the individual's own responsibility.
He highlighted the ethical commitment of physicians to prioritize patient care and called for increased diligence in their duties.
Furthermore, Dr. Nagoda affirmed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has authorized additional allowances for medical personnel to promote superior healthcare services.
