Peter Obi Pays Visit to Kano Mosque Explosion Victims

Obi expressed that the purpose of his visit was to demonstrate solidarity with the injured, provide support, and convey his wishes for their quick recovery, as well as to acknowledge and motivate the hospital's management team.

On Sunday, Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, made a visit to the Kano mosque attack victims who are currently receiving medical care at the Murtala Mohammed hospital in the state.

Obi expressed that the purpose of his visit was to demonstrate solidarity with the injured, provide support, and convey his wishes for their quick recovery, as well as to acknowledge and motivate the hospital's management team.

The ex-governor of Anambra State also extended his heartfelt condolences to the Kano State Government, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and the Kano populace following the tragic event.

As reported by DAILY POST, Shafi’u Abubakar, aged 38, ignited a mosque in Laraba Abasawa within the Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State using a petrol bomb during dawn prayers.

The Kano State Police Command verified on Friday that the death count from the mosque blast had escalated to fifteen.

In a Monday post on his X handle, Obi remarked that the occurrence is a grim reminder of the necessity to foster peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding within the community.

"Yesterday, the 19th of Sunday, in continuation of my previous message of condolence for the lives lost in the appalling terror attack on May 16, 2024, in Gezawa local government area of Kano State at the morning prayer, I visited the Murtala Mohammed Hospital in Kano to empathize with the wounded undergoing treatment," Obi said.

"The visit aimed to show tangible support for the injured, extend assistance, and wish them a fast recovery, as well as to appreciate and boost the morale of the hospital staff.

More crucially, it was to convey to the victims that we are united in denouncing any irrational acts of violence and murder within our nation.

"I reiterate my deepest sympathies to the Kano State Government, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and the people of Kano for this sorrowful occurrence. My thoughts and prayers are particularly with the victims' families.

This event is a stark reminder of the critical role that promoting peace, tolerance, and understanding plays in building a safer, more cohesive society for everyone.

May the Almighty Allah pardon the sins of those who have passed and grant them eternal peace," stated Obi.
