The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the premier Igbo socio-cultural group, has praised President Bola Tinubu's initial year in leadership, indicating it marks a time of advancement and growth.

Ohanaeze's Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, in a statement on Wednesday, acknowledged, "Despite facing inherited issues like economic regression, rampant treasury looting, and crumbling infrastructure, President Tinubu has shown a greater political resolve to tackle these challenges than what was seen in the past eight years under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari."

Isiguzoro highlighted the contrast between Tinubu's governance and the prior administration, claiming that "the Buhari era saw the South-East suffer 'intentional economic marginalization and targeting, which led to conflict and insecurity.'"

"However, President Tinubu's tenure has brought optimism and advancement to the South-East with measures such as the current road repair and upgrade projects, which are boosting economic engagement and inclusiveness," the statement continued.

Addressing ongoing issues, Isiguzoro urged President Tinubu to "stop the demolition of properties in Lagos, secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, improve trade policies, and reopen the Calabar Seaport to further propel economic development."

The group also called for the dismissal of ineffective ministers, stating, "Ohanaeze advocates for the removal of underperforming ministers to enhance progress and efficiency."

Ohanaeze reiterated its dedication to collaborating with the government and encouraged opposition figures to cooperate with President Tinubu "in reconstructing the nation towards prosperity and advancement."
