NSCDC Rescues 13 Human Trafficking Victims in Kano |

The Kano State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) successfully rescued 13 victims of human trafficking within the state.
Mohammed Lawal-Falala, the state commandant of the corps, revealed this during a briefing with journalists in Kano on Tuesday.
The rescue operation took place on May 20, 2024, at Dan Tsinke Quarters in Tarauni Local Government Area.
According to Lawal-Falala, the corps received information about a man who was keeping young female children in his house and trafficking them to Cameroon in search of better opportunities.
In response, the corps operatives attached to the Tarauni Division coordinated special surveillance, resulting in the successful rescue of the victims.
Among the rescued individuals were **five women, three female children, one boy, and four men. They were en route to Maiduguri, intending to continue to Cameroon for labor exploitation.
Ten of the victims are from Kano, while three are from Jigawa.
The NSCDC will hand over the rescued victims to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further action.
Lawal-Falala urged residents in the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The command remains committed to maintaining a crime-free and safe environment.
Additionally, the NSCDC Kano State Command apprehended a suspect specializing in stealing tricycles and handsets. The suspect was arrested on May 20 in Kano Metropolis.
Numerous complaints have been lodged against the suspect for tricycle theft. Upon completion of the investigation, the suspects will face charges in court.
The suspect, speaking to newsmen, revealed that he would disguise himself as if he had a leg fracture, securing it with a bandage. Then, along with his friends, he would charter a tricycle. Upon reaching their destination, they would divert the tricyclist's attention and use their key to steal the vehicle. In total, the suspect admitted to stealing four tricycles, which they subsequently sold in Katsina State.
