In a statement released on Friday, Olufemi O. Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, stated that the event will not disrupt the supply and distribution of petroleum products nationwide.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has clarified that the fire incident reported this morning occurred at a depot owned by HOGL Energy Ltd (Honeywell Depot), not at a facility of NNPC Retail Ltd.

In a statement released on Friday, Olufemi O. Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, stated that the event will not disrupt the supply and distribution of petroleum products nationwide.

Soneye's statement read: “The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) would like to rectify that the fire incident at a tank farm in Marine Beach, Apapa, Lagos, took place at a depot owned by HOGL Energy Ltd (Honeywell Depot), contrary to what was initially reported by early responders.

“The fire, which has been put out, was caused by a spillage of petroleum products within the tank farm's boundaries.

“In the meantime, NNPC Ltd and other depots in the vicinity have recommenced their loading operations.

NNPC guarantees that the incident will not interfere with the supply and distribution of petroleum products throughout the country.”
