Nigerians Face Challenges, Kukah Urges Tinubu to Communicate

Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, acknowledges that Nigerians are experiencing difficulties. He calls on President Bola Tinubu to engage in open communication with the people regarding when his policies will yield results.

Kukah emphasizes that while the current pains are unintended, they stem from specific policy decisions that, over time, can contribute to the welfare of the populace.

Speaking to State House reporters after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Kukah recognizes the tough times but also sees them as an opportunity for renewal. He urges Nigerians to be patient, emphasizing that "building a good society takes a lot of time."

Regarding Tinubu's one-year administration, Kukah acknowledges that it's too early for a comprehensive judgment. However, he underscores the challenges faced by Nigerians and the unintended pains resulting from policy decisions. He believes that government's primary role is to ensure the welfare and security of ordinary citizens.

Kukah's argument centers on the need for improved communication from the government. He suggests that Nigerians should have a clearer sense of when positive changes will occur.

On the Rivers political crisis, Kukah views it as typical politics. He cautions against excessive concern, as politicians have the capacity to resolve their disputes. Despite the challenges, he hopes that Rivers State will soon reposition itself, recognizing its significance within Nigeria.
