NDLEA Dismantles Drug Rings, Seizes Cocaine, and More - Android Pols

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled a cocaine trafficking network led by a couple, Bolanle Lookman Dauda and Olayinka Toheebat Dauda, in Lagos and Ogun states, seizing a substantial amount of the drug worth billions of naira in two separate operations following the apprehension of the ringleaders and their spouse.
The agency's spokesperson, Mr Femi Babafemi, announced on Tuesday that the pair were apprehended on Saturday, May 25, 2024, by NDLEA operatives with assistance from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration in Ibiye, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, as they tried to cross the border to transport the shipment to Ghana.
The official statement disclosed, “Upon their arrest, they were found with 42 blocks of the Class A drug, totaling 47.5kg. An immediate subsequent search at their home at Plot 24/25 OPIC Extension, Petedo Road, Agbara, Ogun State, resulted in the discovery of an additional eight blocks of cocaine weighing 10kg, summing up the total cocaine confiscated from the couple to 57.5kg.”
In a separate operation by the special task force, at least 1,100 ampoules of the deadly synthetic opioid, fentanyl, with a total weight of 6.48kg, were retrieved from a drug ring member, 34-year-old Ikeh Stanley Ifeanyi, at the well-known Idumota Market on Lagos Island.
Furthermore, a minimum of 790 ampoules of the opioid, weighing 5.273kg, were confiscated from another associate of the fentanyl ring, 48-year-old Chieze Ogechukwu Benjamin, who was also taken into custody at the Idumota Market.
In another crackdown on Lagos Island by NDLEA operatives, two individuals, Olayiwola Aremu Kazeem (37) and Ogunfowora Taofik Ajibola (35), were arrested with 432g of methamphetamine seized from their possession.
