MTN Nigeria Foundation has unveiled scholarship schemes for Nigerian students, aiming to bolster education and nurture future leaders.

The foundation has raised the yearly scholarship amount from N200,000 to N300,000 for qualifying students.

The scholarships are divided into three categories: the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS), the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS), and the Top 10 UTME Scholarship.

This was revealed in a statement on MTN's official website last Friday.

The statement said, “Since its inception in 2010, the MTN Scholarships Program annually honors and rewards high-achieving students in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions across 3 categories:

“Since 2012, the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS) has been aimed at eligible 200 and 300-level blind students in any field of study at Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). From 2024, the scholarship will expand to support 100 blind students, up from 60, with the annual award also increasing from N200,000 to N300,000, continuing until graduation if academic standards are maintained.

Since 2020, the Top 10 UTME Scholarship has been awarded to the top 10 scorers of the UTME as declared by JAMB. These students receive scholarships from their first year until graduation, provided they meet academic criteria. Starting in 2024, the yearly award will also rise from N200,000 to N300,000. The Top 10 UTME Scholarship is granted regardless of the successful candidates' chosen field of study or Tertiary Institution, whether Public or Private in Nigeria.”

The scholarship program is designed to acknowledge and reward outstanding students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
