Big Brother Naija season 7 champion, Ijeoma Otabor, widely known as Phyna, who faced criticism on social media after sharing photos of her vacation in The Maldives, told PUNCH Online that she's prepared for any backlash.
She asserted that her actions didn't contradict her principles. She elaborated, "Nigerians just want to make a spectacle, especially since it's me. My objection was to the idea of setting up a camera and ring light to dress up for a 'Get Ready With Me' video. Despite everything, I relish their dismay. I say, let them continue."
Phyna, who has repeatedly mentioned receiving lucrative offers from men for dates or intimacy, expressed that such propositions implied they considered her to be inexpensive like others. She remarked, "As I've mentioned, it's animosity (the reactions she's received), but I can't fault them for their upbringing around women who commodified themselves. I don't hold it against them. Raised to be independent and entrepreneurial, I take pleasure in spending the earnings from my hard work, so I assertively set boundaries, humorously (laughs)."
The BBN celebrity noted that her diverse talents facilitated her transition into acting. She commented, "It was a delightful experience. My array of skills simplified the process. For me, producing and acting are effortless, as they've been lifelong aspirations, and now I'm living them."
Phyna also mentioned that her effort to claim the remaining portion of her BBN prize money was '65 percent complete'.
