Labour Rejects N48,000 Minimum Wage, Withdraws from Negotiation Committee

Organized labor members expressed strong disapproval of the federal government’s proposal for a N48,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers. The Congress criticized both the government and the organized private sector for what they deemed “ridiculous offers.”

According to Daily Trust, while the government put forth the N48,000 offer, the organized private sector countered with N54,000. However, labor leaders, during a briefing at Labour House, emphasized that the government failed to provide any supporting data for these offers. The situation remains contentious as negotiations continue.
