Kogi Authorities Rescue Kidnapped Women and Continue Search for Abducted Students

The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, revealed this development in a statement issued on Saturday. According to Fanwo, the state government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Ododo, is actively addressing the surge in criminal activities that has plagued the state over the past month.

In Kogi State's Yagba West Local Government Area, two women who were kidnapped have been successfully rescued. Simultaneously, efforts are ongoing to secure the release of three abducted university students within the state.

According to Fanwo, the state government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Ododo, is actively addressing the surge in criminal activities that has plagued the state over the past month.

While acknowledging the dislodgment of insurgents, bandits, and kidnappers in the North East, Fanwo emphasized that many of these criminals are now attempting to establish themselves in the North Central region. However, the Kogi State Government is implementing robust measures to protect the state from their activities.

The recent rescue of 21 out of 24 students from the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, who were kidnapped last week, underscores the state government's unwavering stance against criminal elements. Additionally, there was a heartwarming report of the successful rescue of a woman from Yagba West and another woman from Yagba East Local Government Area.

Despite these achievements, the search continues for the remaining three students who are yet to be rescued. The government places immense value on every Kogite's life and remains committed to their safety. Furthermore, the state has facilitated the release of numerous kidnapped victims, even those who are not originally from Kogi but were abducted elsewhere and taken to forest hideouts.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has taken decisive action by approving the immediate employment of thousands of local hunters across the 21 local government areas. Their primary task is to track down criminals and confront them in their camps and hideaways.

Collaborative efforts involving the Army, Police, DSS, NSCDC, Metropolitan Response Squad, and Hunters Group are currently underway in Lokoja and across the three Senatorial Districts, including border communities around Kogi State. Governor Ododo's commitment to defeating criminal elements is unwavering, and he expresses gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for supporting efforts to make Kogi a crime-free state.

The government urges citizens to actively participate by providing intelligence to security agencies, ensuring effective protection for all residents of the state. The message is clear: Kogi will not tolerate criminal activities, and justice will prevail against those who threaten the safety of its people.
