Kidnappers Murder Victim After Receiving N9 Million Ransom |
According to reports, armed men invaded the community last Tuesday, abducted the victim, and transported him to an undisclosed location.
Suspected gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, reportedly killed a man named Johnbull Osagiede after extorting a ransom of N9 million from his family in Edo State.
The incident occurred in Evbohen quarters within the Idumebo community, located in the Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the State.
According to reports, armed men invaded the community last Tuesday, abducted the victim, and transported him to an undisclosed location.
A family insider revealed that the kidnappers initially contacted the deceased's wife, demanding a N15 million ransom. The family complied by paying N3 million initially, followed by an additional N6 million, totaling N9 million.
Surprisingly, despite receiving the ransom, the kidnappers still killed Johnbull Osagiede.
The lifeless body of Johnbull Osagiede was discovered by a community vigilante near Pipeline Road, close to the Iguelaba community in the same locality.
The incident has been reported to the Ugo Police Division by the community.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, stated that the command had not yet received any official briefing on the matter. The command would only be aware if the incident was formally reported to them.
