Katsina APC Welcomes Former Governor Shema with Open Arms
In a significant political development, former Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State. Governor Dikko Umar Radda hailed Shema's return to the APC as a "homecoming" and a reunion with his political family.
Presenting Shema with a membership card, Governor Radda highlighted their shared political history, having served under the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua alongside former Governor Aminu Bello Masari. He encouraged other patriotic citizens to join hands in repositioning the state for greatness, emphasizing that his doors are open to anyone willing to contribute to the state's development.
The state leadership of the APC issued Shema a membership card with serial number 26551, marking a historic shift in the political landscape. Alhaji Jabirru Abdullahi Tasuri, Chief of Staff to Governor Radda, received the membership card on behalf of the governor, praising the APC's momentous achievement in welcoming a prominent figure from the opposition.
The state chairman of the APC, Alhaji Sani Aliyu Daura, commended Governor Radda and his predecessor, Masari, for their role in securing Shema's defection, promising equal treatment for the former governor. The state secretary of the APC, Suleiman Nanadi, welcomed Shema, stating that his joining the party further proves the APC's success and popularity.
