Kano Government Dismisses Protests Against Emir Sanusi's Reinstatement as Minor

The government of Abba Yusuf also voiced concern about widespread reports that have overstated the public's response to the emirate dispute.

The Kano State administration, led by Abba Yusuf, has reiterated that reinstating former Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido II as the Emir of Kano, serves the state's unity and prosperity.

This was stated in a release by the state's Information Commissioner, Baba Halilu Dantiye, on Monday.

The government of Abba Yusuf also voiced concern about widespread reports that have overstated the public's response to the emirate dispute.

The release stated, "Given the current strained atmosphere in the state, it's essential to calm public fears following these reports, affirm the government's dedication to safeguarding citizens' lives and property, and correct the record.

The individuals involved in these protests, who were paid and unpatriotic, sought only to destabilize the state for their own benefit and the selfish interests of those behind them. The vast majority of Kano's citizens have demonstrated commendable restraint and an understanding of the government's genuine intentions.

"It's important to emphasize that the decision by Abba Kabir Yusuf's administration to legally dissolve the emirates and restore the 14th Emir of Kano was made with the state's best interests in mind. This action has been positively received by a large segment of the community that values the advantages of a unified emirate system."

The behavior of these individuals and their representatives does not reflect the true sentiments of Kano's citizens but is motivated by hidden selfish agendas.

The government has called on the public to ignore "the sensationalized and highly exaggerated media reports and to support the government's efforts to foster a more united and cohesive state, while urging the media to practice ethical journalism and fact-check before releasing any reports that could unnecessarily escalate tensions."

"The Kano State government, under the leadership of Abba Kabir Yusuf, is dedicated to the state's advancement and development and invites all citizens to collaborate towards these goals," the statement concluded.
