Kano disturbance: Police detect schemes to incite violence at legislative building, other locales |

The Kano State Police Command has warned the populace of potential schemes by certain factions and persons to instigate violence in communal areas amid the ongoing dispute over the Emirship.
State Police Commissioner Usaini Gumel sounded the alert during a press briefing on Sunday.
He revealed that trustworthy intelligence indicates plans by some parties to organize demonstrations that might escalate into violent confrontations.
The Commissioner pinpointed locations of potential unrest, including the state Legislative Assembly Complex, Kofar Nasarawa, Iyaka Road, Kofar Naisa, Brigade, Airport Road, Janbulo, and Sani Mainenge districts.
"We have trustworthy reports of troublemakers planning to incite violence in specific areas, notably the Legislative Assembly and other strategic sites across the state. Multiple sources have corroborated this information.
"Should anyone attempt to provoke a confrontation, our security forces are fully equipped to address these troublemakers. We have devised comprehensive strategies for intensive patrols and surveillance in areas where we believe these troublemakers may be concealed," he declared.
DAILY POST has reported that Kano State has witnessed a succession of demonstrations recently.
On Sunday, followers of Aminu Bayero, the ousted Emir of Kano, organized protests in the five emirates, including Rano, Bichi, Karaye, Kano, and Gaya.
Governor Abba Yusuf, who had enacted a new statute revoking the Emirate Council Law of 2019, removed Bayero from his position.
The 2019 act divided the Kano emirate into five separate entities and laid the groundwork for the removal of Muhammadu Sanusi in 2020.
Nevertheless, the governor dismissed the Emirs on Thursday and restored Sanusi to power, which has led to disturbances in certain areas of the state.
