The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the detention of eight suspected armed robbers and the arrest of four individuals accused of receiving stolen goods within the state.

“Operatives have effectively detained suspects notorious for armed robbery, who have been menacing the areas of Barnawa, Sabon Tasha, and Karji in the Kaduna metropolitan region,” Hassan stated.
He reported that on May 9, around 3:00 am, a surveillance patrol team from the Unguwan Rimi Division apprehended three individuals, including Khalid Lawal, Abdulhamid Zubairu, and Musa Yusuf, on the Yakowa Express Way, as they were returning from a robbery.
Upon capture, the suspects admitted to their criminal activities.
“The case was subsequently handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a more thorough investigation,” Hassan explained.
Further investigations uncovered that the suspects, equipped with firearms, knives, and machetes, collaborated with other criminals, who were subsequently located and detained. These include Aminu Aliyu (also known as Bosho), Idris Ibrahim, Musa Muhammed, Abubakar Lawal (also known as Dan Master), and Alhassan Musa.
According to Hassan, the suspects had targeted several hotels in the city, such as Abello, Geomerry, Harmony, and Apple Gate Hotel, assaulting lodgers and staff and robbing them of valuable items like two motor vehicles (Peugeot 206 and 307), mobile phones, and computers.
“In a particularly brutal attack, the gang amputated the right hand of one victim,” he added.
While the mobile phones and computers were successfully recovered, the two vehicles are still missing.
Police efforts also resulted in the capture of individuals suspected of buying the stolen phones. “The accused receivers are Abubakar Yahaya, Abdullahi Abubakar, Muhammad Yusuf, and Muhammad Abdulkadir Dada, with the latter being noted for his expertise in unlocking phones and modifying their IMEI numbers to make them untraceable,” Hassan said.
He affirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all residents.
