Kaduna Allocates Agricultural Resources to 40,000 Farmers |

On Monday, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani initiated the handover of agricultural resources, tools, and agro-processing machinery to 40,000 small-scale farmers under the 'A Koma Gona' (Return to Farm) program.
The ceremony, which also commemorated his first anniversary as governor, was conducted in the Ikara Local Government Area, targeting recipients in the northern senatorial district.
Governor Sani acknowledged Kaduna's position as a top producer of ginger, maize, and tomatoes within Nigeria, yet he voiced concerns regarding the post-harvest wastage, especially of perishables such as tomatoes.
In response, the governor committed to re-evaluate the halted project of setting up a tomato-processing facility in Ikara, with the goal of reducing the losses encountered by local tomato growers.
Addressing the agricultural community, Governor Sani underscored the vital importance of farming to the economy, noting its role in job creation and maintaining livelihoods.
He pointed out that smallholder farmers and minor agro-processors are facing hardships amidst the prevailing economic conditions.
Governor Sani encouraged the recipients to make good use of the distributed tools and supplies.
Agriculture Commissioner Murtala Dabo remarked that the governor's campaign is set to not just bolster food security in Kaduna and nationwide but also play a significant part in rejuvenating the rural financial landscape.
