A relative confirmed that the Emir passed on Friday evening at the Specialist Hospital, Potiskum, following a long illness that had kept him out of public view.
The Tikau Emir in Yobe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Ibn Grema, has passed away.

The deceased ruler is survived by three wives, numerous children, and grandchildren.
In the meantime, the Marafa of Tikau, Alhaji Shaibu Baba Alaraba, offered his sympathies over the monarch's demise.
He characterized the late Emir as a "genuine leader and esteemed member of the community, renowned for his sagacity, kindness, and commitment to his people's welfare."
He further acknowledged the late Emir's contributions to Yobe's advancement and the significant influence he had on the local community.
