John Fury Apologizes After Incident with Usyk's Team Member

John Fury, the father of heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury, has publicly apologized after a recent scuffle with a member of Oleksandr Usyk’s team this past Monday, ahead of the much-awaited heavyweight title fight.

The altercation took place in Saudi Arabia, where John Fury was seen with a bloodied forehead, an event that was recorded and widely disseminated.

The clash, which saw John Fury headbutt Stanislav Stepchuk of Usyk’s team, was captured by iFL TV and Usyk’s nutritionist, Mykola Tkachenko.

The upcoming fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh on May 18 is set to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over two decades, barring a draw.

Both contenders maintain undefeated records, with Fury as the WBC champion and Usyk holding multiple titles.

John Fury, who has a history as a professional boxer and bare-knuckle fighter, is part of the coaching staff for Tyson and his half-brother, Tommy Fury.

John, who is no stranger to making bold statements during fight weeks, has been in the spotlight on numerous occasions.

In a post-incident interview with Seconds Out, John offered his apologies: “I want to extend my sincere apologies to everyone involved. It’s just our nature. The emotions and the pressure were intense.”

He continued, “The guy was quite disrespectful, right? It’s well-known, if you invade a fighter’s personal space, there’s bound to be a reaction.”
