Jigawa Representative, Dogonyaro, Passes Away |
His colleague, Mohammed Bello El-Rufa’i, announced the lawmaker's passing on his Facebook page on Friday morning.
The representative for Garki/Babura federal constituency in Jigawa State, Rep. Isa Dogonyaro, has passed away.
His colleague, Mohammed Bello El-Rufa’i, announced the lawmaker's passing on his Facebook page on Friday morning.
His post read, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Today, we mourn the loss of a colleague in the House of Representatives, a distinguished parliamentarian and a man of virtue. May Allah SWT pardon him and bestow upon him Aljannatul Firdaus”.
In a conversation with Daily Trust, Deputy House Spokesperson, Phillip Agbese, mentioned that he became aware of the lawmaker's passing through social media posts and WhatsApp groups within the House of Representatives.
He stated, “Islamic prayers and eulogies from colleagues are being shared across various platforms. We have yet to receive official notification in the House. The family has not yet informed the House.
“It's customary for the family to inform the Speaker first, after which we will formally acknowledge his passing. I understand that the funeral prayer is planned for this afternoon in Abuja”.
Dogonyaro was officially recognized as the lawful APC candidate for the House of Representatives in the 2023 general election following a court decision that removed Aminu Kanta, who had initially been declared the primary election winner in the constituency.
The late Dogonyaro had contested Kanta’s primary victory, alleging that he had provided a false name.
