Hajj Commission's 43-member team sets off for 2024 Hajj |
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) commenced its journey from Abuja to Saudi Arabia on Sunday, embarking on final preparations to welcome the initial group of Nigerian pilgrims from Kebbi State, scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, May 15.
Comprising 35 NAHCON officials and eight medical staff, the team will oversee the reception, lodging, nourishment, transit, healthcare, and overall well-being of the pilgrims during the Hajj season.
At a brief send-off event at the Hajj House, the commission's headquarters, chairman/CEO Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi encouraged the team to fulfill their responsibilities effectively, highlighting that their conduct could significantly influence the success of the pilgrimage.
Arabi emphasized to the team, "You represent the first interaction with the pilgrims. How they perceive your actions will critically impact the commission's evaluation.
"Success hinges on your performance, while failure leads to managing crises. Your duty is to serve the pilgrims with diligence, earning both worldly appreciation and divine reward for treating Allah's Guests with honor.
"Remember, they are your primary focus; thus, consistently approach them with politeness and respect," he advised.
Arabi also cautioned that any deviation from expected conduct would prompt severe action by the commission, including the potential recall of any staff member failing to meet their obligations.
