The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has strongly cautioned prospective pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj against bringing banned items into Saudi Arabia.

In a statement released by Fatima Sanda Usara, the Assistant Director of Public Affairs for NAHCON, on Thursday in Abuja, the Commission listed prohibited items such as illegal drugs, kola nuts, and cigarettes. It emphasized that Saudi Arabia, with its deep religious and cultural roots, enforces stringent anti-drug trafficking laws, including the death penalty for offenders.

Prospective pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj are advised to avoid carrying illegal drugs, kola nuts, cigarettes, and similar items into Saudi Arabia.

"Pilgrims must remember that Saudi Arabia, a country with a strong religious and cultural foundation, imposes severe penalties for drug trafficking, which can include the death penalty.

"NAHCON urges pilgrims to focus on the spiritual purpose of their journey to Saudi Arabia and to avoid any actions that could compromise the integrity of their Hajj," the statement read.
