Governor Adeleke emphasized his commitment to utilizing the limited resources for the welfare of the citizens, rather than adhering to the usual practice of collecting security votes.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that he is foregoing his security votes to prioritize the state's development.
This announcement was made during a meeting with Oba Joseph Fashiku, the Olunisha of Inisha town in Odo-Otin Local Government Area, and his chiefs, on Thursday in Osogbo.
Governor Adeleke emphasized his commitment to utilizing the limited resources for the welfare of the citizens, rather than adhering to the usual practice of collecting security votes.
"The state's development takes precedence, which is why I have chosen not to collect security votes.
Our actions are guided by good intentions. We are focused on road rehabilitation and reconstruction.
"We're hiring qualified teachers, distributing educational materials, and providing free meals to students in public schools.
"Through the Imole free medical outreach, we've treated over 60,000 state residents.
"Furthermore, we've cleared the backlog of salaries and pensions," he stated.
Governor Adeleke also mentioned that the ongoing road projects aim to rejuvenate the state's economy and cocoa production.
He assured that efforts are being made to ensure the realization of the proposed state airport.
While his administration is diligently working on infrastructural development, it is also addressing 'stomach infrastructure'.
Regarding Alh. Shuaibu Oyedokun's defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Adeleke expressed his willingness to welcome him back should he reconsider his decision.
Describing Oyedokun as a respected leader and father figure, the governor conveyed his readiness to accept him back into the party.
He also expressed satisfaction that the people of Inisha, Oyedokun's hometown, did not support the defection.
Oba Fashikun, in his response, affirmed the town's support for Governor Adeleke and stated that Oyedokun's defection would not sway the town's allegiance to the governor. (NAN)
