Governor Fubara noted that the political climate has evolved significantly since then, and he remains steadfast in his pledge to prioritize Rivers State, protect its interests, and deliver democratic benefits and effective governance to its citizens.
Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has announced that upon taking office, his administration took on 34 unfinished projects, with a combined value exceeding N225.279 billion, spanning 13 local government areas within the state.
Additionally, Governor Fubara revealed that his administration has initiated nine new road projects, with a total investment of N534.332 billion.
He characterized the political turmoil faced by his government, which began just three months after his inauguration on May 29, 2023, as both severe and existential.
Nevertheless, Governor Fubara expressed confidence that the most challenging period has passed, as his administration has effectively safeguarded its right to lead the state and promote its development without yielding any ground.
These remarks were part of Governor Fubara’s presentation during the celebration of his first year in office at the Dr. Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
“We embarked on this journey with great enthusiasm, clarity of purpose, and a commitment to rapid change,” said Governor Fubara.
“However, we were soon engulfed in a profound crisis within just three months. It was more than a mere political dispute; it was an intense existential battle. Thankfully, we have emerged stronger, having upheld our mandate to govern Rivers State and foster its advancement in an atmosphere of freedom,” he continued.
Governor Fubara noted that the political climate has evolved significantly since then, and he remains steadfast in his pledge to prioritize Rivers State, protect its interests, and deliver democratic benefits and effective governance to its citizens.
“A government’s duty is to be accountable, responsive, and protective of its people’s security and welfare. After a year of stewardship and resource management, it is fitting to publicly share our accomplishments,” he stated.
“I am honored to present our achievements during our first year in office, serving as the executive branch of Rivers State’s government,” Governor Fubara added.
Reflecting on his commitment to economic development, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture, as outlined in his strategic plan, Governor Fubara expressed pride in the substantial progress made despite numerous challenges.
He emphasized that his administration has reversed the state’s economic downturn, setting Rivers State on a path of growth and prosperity.
