FG Urges TikTok: Implement Content Moderation |
The national government has instructed the social media platform, TikTok, to implement content moderation to mitigate online issues such as hate speech, misinformation, and cyberbullying.
Speaking on behalf of the government, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, issued the directive during a meeting with a TikTok delegation at the agency's headquarters in Abuja, yesterday.
Inuwa emphasized the importance of a secure and inclusive online space, noting that strategies for moderating content are crucial for tackling online challenges and safeguarding minors nationwide.
Earlier, the Head of Government Regulation and Public Policy for TikTok Nigeria and West Africa, Mrs. Tokunbo Ibrahim, acknowledged that NITDA is a significant and essential stakeholder in Nigeria, recognized for its remarkable contributions and achievements in the digital economy sector.
