Father Accuses Air Force Officer of Brutalizing Son to Death in Kano

Shuaibu Bala, a Nigerian, has alleged that an Air Force officer, Aminu, brutalized his son, Yusuf Shuaibu, to death in Kano State. According to SaharaReporters, Yusuf, a 23-year-old civilian worker at the Nigerian Air Force Hospital in Kano, was bitten by Aminu, leading to his death.

The incident sparked outrage and protests in the Gwagwarwa community, with residents blocking Airport Road and demanding justice for Yusuf. The grieving father appealed to the Kano State governor, Emir of Kano, National Human Rights Commission, and Chief of Air Staff to ensure justice for his son. In response, NAF spokesperson Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet stated that the Chief of Air Staff had ordered a discreet investigation into the incident to determine what happened and bring anyone found culpable to justice.

According to Gabkwet, Yusuf worked as a temporary staff member at the 465 NAF hospital in Kano and had a misunderstanding with an airman over insubordination, which was resolved amicably. However, Yusuf died the next day, and the NAF has extended condolences to his family, promising to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
