Ex-Liverpool and Real Madrid forward, Michael Owen has cast doubts over Zinedine Zidane's likelihood of taking up the managerial position at Manchester United this summer, suggesting instead that Thomas Tuchel would be an apt choice to succeed Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

With Ten Hag gearing up for an important FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 25, speculation continues that his stint could be drawing to a close, irrespective of the result at Wembley.
A host of names, including Zidane, Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi, Kieran McKenna, and Graham Potter, have been associated with the Manchester United role.
Nonetheless, Owen sees Tuchel as a leading contender, depending on Bayern Munich's resolution about his future.
"Zidane isn't fluent in English, so I doubt Man Utd is on his list. It would be quite surprising," Owen remarked to BoyleSports.
Tuchel is an intriguing option. If Bayern clinches the Champions League, might they reconsider?
"They've missed out on the league title, but being offered the Champions League alone at the season's start would have been a no-brainer.
"Indeed, he might be on the market, and I sense many Chelsea supporters lament letting Tuchel go. He's certainly a heavyweight for the role.
The least likely for me would be Zidane. Southgate or Potter taking the helm seems quite plausible; they're both commendable figures.
"Potter's tenure began amid challenges, so it's unfair to dismiss his efforts as subpar. I wouldn't rule out Potter and Southgate just yet."
