EFCC to Prosecute Former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika and Others on Thursday

Sirika, who served in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, will face a six-count amended charge.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama, on Thursday.

Sirika, who served in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, will face a six-count amended charge.

He will be arraigned alongside three others, including his daughter, Fatima; Jalal Hamma; and Al-Duraq Investment Ltd, for alleged abuse of office involving N2.7 billion.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), EFCC investigations into financial malfeasance allegedly committed by the former minister include fraudulent contracts awarded during his tenure. On April 23, he was detained in Abuja as part of these investigations.

The Abuja Zonal Command of the commission invited Sirika for questioning regarding the alleged contract frauds under his watch in the ministry. He was promptly interrogated and detained at the Formella Street, Wuse 2 Zonal office of the Commission.

A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the former minister had met with investigators before his detention and would be arraigned on Thursday.

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the arraignment was postponed due to EFCC's request to amend the charge.
