| DPO Killed by ISWAP Fighters in Borno |
The event was verified by a security source, who stated, "Boko Haram invaded New Marte yesterday, resulting in the DPO's death and injuries to two others."
In the northern region of Borno State, it is suspected that the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) members are responsible for the death of a high-ranking police officer.
The Daily Trust reports that around 7:30 pm on Monday, ISWAP infiltrated New Marte and launched an attack on a health worker, who narrowly escaped.
The health worker managed to reach the police station to raise the alarm.
Upon receiving the emergency call, the DPO took action to pursue the assailants; however, they set up an ambush against the police squad.
The event was verified by a security source, who stated, "Boko Haram invaded New Marte yesterday, resulting in the DPO's death and injuries to two others."
A local vigilante, expressing sorrow, recounted, "It's truly heartbreaking. On our way back to Dikwa that day, we even offered him a ride. He mentioned he was visiting his family in Maiduguri."
