Daughter of Ousted Nigerien President Accuses Ex-President Issoufou of Masterminding Coup

Hinder Bazoum, the daughter of deposed Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum, has made a shocking allegation against his predecessor, Mahamadou Issoufou. In an interview with the BBC, she claimed that Issoufou orchestrated the military coup that ousted her father nine months ago. Bazoum and his wife have been under arrest in the presidential palace in Niamey since the coup on July 26.

Gusmani pointed out that Hinder had previously asked Issoufou to intervene in the crisis, but later accused him of masterminding the coup, causing confusion.

The situation in Niger remains complex, with the country struggling against two jihadist insurgencies. The junta chief, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, is a close ally of Issoufou, who voluntarily stepped down after two terms. Hinder has urged national and international opinion to mobilize and end the "cruel ordeal" for her family.
