The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has verified the kidnapping of workers from Dangote Cement at Opelle, located in the Etsako East Local Government Area.
Chidi Nwabuzor, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the event during a phone interview with Channels TV and mentioned that efforts to free the abducted individuals are in progress.
Earlier, SaharaReporters had disclosed that the abduction occurred on Monday evening within the same local government area.
Nwabuzor stated that the Okpella Division’s Divisional Police Officer, upon learning of the kidnapping, initiated a search operation in the surrounding bushland. This search involved not only police officers but also military personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters.
He revealed that a number of the abductees have already been saved, and the command anticipates providing additional updates as the situation develops.
