| Court Sets May 28 to Address Ganduje’s Suspension Suit |
Ganduje is asserting that his suspension from the party without an opportunity to present his defense constitutes a breach of his fundamental right to a fair hearing.
Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman of the Federal High Court in Kano has scheduled May 28 to deliberate on the substantive application brought forth by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Ganduje is contesting his suspension from the party by factional ward executives under the leadership of Basiru Nuhu Isa.
Initially, Ganduje was suspended by APC Ganduje ward executives headed by Haladu Gwanjo on April 15. Subsequently, another faction surfaced and proclaimed Ganduje's suspension on April 20.
The Daily Trust has reported that the party's secretary in Kano, Zakari Sarina, referred to the faction's suspension as yet another instance of impersonation.
Ganduje is asserting that his suspension from the party without an opportunity to present his defense constitutes a breach of his fundamental right to a fair hearing.
Furthermore, he is demanding a ruling that his suspension by the faction is illegal, null, and void.
Hadiza Nasir Ahmad, the attorney representing the troubled APC chairman, sought court approval for substituted service on the defendants, which was granted by the court.
Justice Liman has postponed the hearing on this issue to May 28.
