Justice S. A. Amobeda, who issued the exparte order on Tuesday, declared that the order was made for the sake of justice and to preserve peace in Kano.
A Federal High Court in Kano has mandated the eviction of Muhammadu Sanusi II, the reinstated Emir of Kano, from the Gidan Rumfa Palace.
The court has also directed the police to ensure that Aminu Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, receives all his rightful rights and privileges.
Bayero's deposition occurred last week after the Kano Emirate council bill was amended, passed into law, and signed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Justice S. A. Amobeda, who issued the exparte order on Tuesday, declared that the order was made for the sake of justice and to preserve peace in Kano.
The order reads, “An interim injunction order is issued, restraining the Respondents, their agents, servants, privies, or any other person or authority from inviting, arresting, detaining, threatening, intimidating, harassing the Applicant, raiding, tampering with, or visiting the Applicant’s residence to arrest or in any way infringe or attempt to infringe the Applicant’s rights pending the hearing and determination of the Originating Motion.
Furthermore, an order is issued restraining the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Respondents and all other Respondents from preventing the applicant from using his official residence and palace at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu, as well as from enjoying all rights and privileges due to him as the Emir of Kano State, and from evicting anything or anyone residing within the palace illegally, pending the hearing and the determination of the originating summons.”
The case has been postponed to June 4, 2024, for further hearing.
This development follows a state high court's decision, led by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, to issue an order preventing the eviction of Emir Sanusi II, as reported by Daily Trust.
