Nigerian-American singer and dancer, Korra Obidi, has faced criticism on social media after swiftly jetting off to Hawaii in the United States upon reaching her GoFundMe target of $50,000. Obidi initially created the fundraising campaign to secure legal representation in her custody battle with ex-husband Justin Dean over their children.
In her plea, Obidi emphasized the need for a good lawyer and set a goal of $100,000 on her GoFundMe account. The campaign successfully raised over $50,000 from more than 950 donors worldwide.
However, shortly after collecting the funds, Obidi surprised her followers during a live Facebook session by announcing her vacation plans in Hawaii. This decision has sparked outrage among fans, who accuse her of misusing the donations intended for legal expenses. Many believe that the true purpose of the GoFundMe campaign was not to pursue legal action against her husband but rather to fund her extravagant lifestyle.
Critics have expressed frustration, calling Obidi out for allegedly manipulating her supporters. Some have even labeled her a "professional beggar" on social media platforms. Others question why she prioritized a vacation over her children's well-being, given the serious nature of the custody battle.

Despite the backlash, there are also those who defend Obidi, emphasizing her role as an influencer, performer, student, and devoted mother. They argue that her personal choices should not be scrutinized, and that those who disagree can simply unfollow her.
The ongoing divorce and custody dispute between Obidi and Dean remains a public spectacle. Recent developments have granted Justin Dean the right to limit their daughters' participation in Obidi's online content, further fueling the controversy.
Obidi's online plea accused Dean of abuse and "gaslighting" during their marriage, alleging that he continues to subject their daughters to similar mistreatment.
