Confirmed: Mbappe to Depart PSG After Season's End

Mbappe to Depart PSG After Season's End

“I wish to share with everyone that this is my final season with Paris Saint-Germain. I have decided not to renew my contract and thus, our journey will end in the coming weeks,” Mbappe stated in a video he shared on social media.

Kylian Mbappe has made it official on Friday that he will be exiting Paris Saint-Germain, the French champions, following this season's conclusion, with expectations pointing towards Real Madrid as his forthcoming club.

“I wish to share with everyone that this is my final season with Paris Saint-Germain. I have decided not to renew my contract and thus, our journey will end in the coming weeks,” Mbappe stated in a video he shared on social media.

“My final appearance at Parc des Princes will be this Sunday.”

PSG has clinched the Ligue 1 championship, marking their 10th title in the past 12 seasons, and they will receive the trophy post the Sunday match against Toulouse, which is their final home game of the season.

Luis Enrique's team was knocked out of the Champions League by Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals, with a 1-0 defeat in the second leg at home this Tuesday, resulting in an unexpected 2-0 loss on aggregate.

This means Mbappe will miss out on the farewell he desired in the Champions League final at Wembley on June 1, concluding his seven-year tenure at PSG without securing a victory in the premier European club competition.

In February, Mbappe had privately notified PSG about his plan to leave upon the expiration of his contract at the end of this season.

The 25-year-old has not publicly disclosed this information before, nor has he confirmed his next move, but all signs are pointing to a transfer to Real Madrid.

“There are many emotions involved, reflecting on the years I've had the privilege and honor to be part of France's largest club, and one of the world's finest,” Mbappe expressed.

“This club has been my stepping stone, providing me with my initial experience in a high-pressure environment, allowing me to develop as a player, especially being in the company of some of the sport's legends and greatest champions,” he continued.

“It's tough, and I never imagined it would be this challenging to make this announcement... but I believe I need this, a fresh challenge, after seven years.”

Although Mbappe didn't score in the Dortmund matches, he has netted 43 goals across all competitions this season, with 26 in Ligue 1.

He aims to increase his record-breaking 255 goals for PSG and secure another trophy in the French Cup final — throughout his seven years with his local club, Mbappe has accumulated six Ligue 1 titles, three French Cups, and two victories in the now-defunct League Cup.

Following Sunday's match, PSG will wrap up their league fixtures with away games against Nice and Metz, who are facing relegation threats, before Mbappe concludes his stint with the club in the Cup final at Lille.
