ABUJA – In light of this year's Children’s Day, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, the Country Director of the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, has urged parents, guardians, and key players to come together to secure a peaceful future for the children of Nigeria.
At a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) event, co-hosted with the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, Rev. Hayab highlighted the urgent need for a joint effort to foster a more peaceful and cohesive Nigeria, conducive to the growth and prosperity of children.
Rev. Hayab stated, “It is imperative that we strive to leave behind a Nigeria that is both peaceful and united for our children. The greatest duty we have in life, as parents and as a society, is to nurture and educate children who represent the future of our families and our society.”
He underscored the importance of the values and quality of life we instill in our youth, which ultimately shapes the future of our families, society, and the nation.
“Through education, we can diminish global disparities, spur economic growth, and most importantly, cultivate a world that is more peaceful and stable,” he remarked.
The celebration, held at the NTA Arena in Garki, Abuja, was marked by a variety of activities such as a march past, dance, drama, and poetry, providing a delightful environment for the children and entertainment for attendees.
Participation included over 20 schools from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and nearby areas, with attendance from diverse civil society groups, child-centric foundations, government representatives, and industry leaders.
Madam Tani Ajayi, NTA’s General Manager of Entertainment and Program Director, representing the Director-General, Salisu Abdul Hamid Dembos, expressed gratitude to all the attendees for their presence.
She reiterated NTA’s commitment to being a channel that caters to children, reflecting their interests in its broadcasts. Madam Ajayi also encouraged parents to foster an environment that nurtures their children, stating, “The most valuable gift we can offer our children is our time, addressing their needs and interests.”
The sentiment for unity, peace, and education as pillars for a brighter future for Nigeria's youth was a common theme among the dignitaries present.
The event served as a poignant reminder of the significance of investing in our children, the forthcoming leaders and members of Nigerian society.
As Nigeria commemorates Children’s Day, there is a collective call to action for all stakeholders to prioritize the well-being, education, and growth of children, ensuring a serene and thriving Nigeria for future generations.
