Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, has shared the strategic approach that led to his squad's victory over Manchester City in this year's Champions League.
The team from Spain ousted City in the quarter-finals and is set to face Borussia Dortmund in this Saturday's final.
At the Bernabeu, Real matched Pep Guardiola’s squad with a 3-3 draw, later securing a win through penalties after a tie at the Etihad.
Ancelotti explains, "There isn't an 'Ancelotti style' – I don't adhere to a single style because I adapt.
"In the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City, we opted for a deep block, solid defence. This season, we've adopted this approach only once or twice, not more."
"Our usual play is more offensive. However, I recognized that method as the key to competing and securing victory in that match," Ancelotti stated.
