The Kogi State Government disclosed on Tuesday the successful rescue of an additional six students who were abducted in the recent raid on Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.
With this latest rescue, the total number of liberated students has reached 20, with four still missing.
The operation to free the students turned into an intense shootout, leading to the kidnappers being outgunned by security forces, forcing them to release their hostages and escape with injuries.
The rescue efforts began with nine students being freed, followed by another five the subsequent morning, culminating in the most recent liberation of six students.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo praised the joint forces for their successful rescue mission.
Fanwo relayed the governor's words: “My heartfelt thanks go to our courageous security teams. I encourage them to maintain their tireless efforts until we have ensured the return of all students.”
Following these events, Commissioner Fanwo highlighted the government's dedication to enhancing school security.
He detailed, “We've upgraded our school security systems for better performance and implemented an early warning system to avert future incidents.”
