BREAKING: Gov. Yusuf Commands Arrest of Former Emir of Kano |
A statement released by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on behalf of Yusuf, charged Ado Bayero with inciting unrest in the state
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has issued an order for the immediate arrest of the ex-Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.
A statement released by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on behalf of Yusuf, charged Ado Bayero with inciting unrest in the state.
"The ex-Emir was clandestinely brought into Kano city last night, attempting to forcibly reclaim the palace just two days after his deposition by the Governor."
"It was verified that the new Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, entered the palace accompanied by the Governor, the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the State Assembly, and other senior government officials around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, 25th May 2024.
As the Chief Security Officer of the state, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has instructed the Commissioner of Police to detain the former Emir immediately for causing public disturbance and threatening the state's prevailing peace."
The Daily Trust reported on the return of the 15th Emir to the historic city.
