On Wednesday, terrorists launched a deadly assault at Maro Junction, a bustling weekly market in Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, resulting in 12 fatalities.
The incident was confirmed by a former local government chairman, Cafra Caino, to PUNCH Online. He reported that the attackers stormed the market at about 3pm on Wednesday, unleashing gunfire.
Caino disclosed that 12 victims have been declared dead, and another 20 individuals have been hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.
He noted that this marks the second occurrence of violence at the weekly market amidst active commerce.

Caino added, "The security forces that were dispatched have since departed. We're urgently requesting that the government redeploy security personnel to reestablish peace in the area."
