Binance Controversy: Lawmaker Warns of Legal Steps Over $140m Corruption Claim

The representative for Aguata Federal Constituency in Anambra State, Rep. Dominic Okafor, has warned of potential legal measures in response to a news article alleging he accepted a $140 million bribe from Binance.

He made this declaration while speaking to the press at the House of Representatives on Friday.

He described the report as a defamation attempt against his reputation and honor following his initiative to investigate the flight of Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla from Nigerian security custody.

He remarked: "Just after I presented that motion, which received positive feedback and praise calls, I began receiving messages from friends globally accusing me of accepting bribes from the mentioned company. This prompted me to send a communication to Premium Times, the originator of the report."

"I dispatched a communication to them, which I also forwarded to the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Clerk, Inspector General of Police, EFCC, and DSS. I demanded they retract the story within 24 hours, or else I would initiate legal proceedings."

It's important to note that an executive from Binance, a digital currency exchange platform, previously made bribery accusations against members of a 'federal government committee'.
