Banditry: Representatives Call for Special Taskforce to Safeguard Niger Communities

Rep. Modibbo highlighted that communities in the constituency have been subjected to frequent attacks, resulting in kidnappings, fatalities, and property damage at the hands of marauding criminals.

The House of Representatives has urgently proposed the creation of a specialized joint security task force to enhance existing security measures against the escalating attacks by bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements in communities within the Shiroro, Rafi, and Munya federal constituency of Niger State.

This call comes in response to a motion presented by Rep. Ismaila Musa Modibbo during Wednesday's Plenary session.

Rep. Modibbo highlighted that communities in the constituency have been subjected to frequent attacks, resulting in kidnappings, fatalities, and property damage at the hands of marauding criminals. Recent incidents include assaults on villages in Shiroro, Rafi, and Munya local government areas.

The cumulative impact of these attacks has strained relations among civilians, military personnel, and vigilantes, leading to the displacement of residents from their homes.

In light of these challenges, Rep. Modibbo emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive security response. This would involve establishing a special joint security taskforce, complemented by air surveillance and ground troops, to safeguard the affected communities.
