The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has stated that the party's National Working Committee (NWC) is strategizing to secure new state governorships by 2027.
Dr. Ganduje revealed this strategy on Tuesday in Abuja during a policy roundtable known as 'The Asiwaju Scorecard Series,' hosted by the APC Professionals Forum.
He mentioned that the APC leadership is methodically transforming the party into a genuinely grassroots-oriented progressive organization.
The chairman highlighted that the NWC has instructed the party's state chapters to collaborate with their respective governors and other key figures to ensure the establishment of robust, operational offices in every political ward and state. This initiative is to provide members nationwide with tangible representation within their communities.
Additionally, he noted that the NWC has formed a reconciliation committee tasked with resolving disputes among party members. Similar committees are expected to be set up at the state, local government, and ward levels.
Ganduje emphasized, "Although we are not in an election cycle, we are revitalizing the party to guarantee that by 2027, we will not only retain our current state governors but also elect new ones, alongside ensuring the President secures another term to advance his administration's policies and programs.
We are steadily reorganizing our party into a truly grassroots progressive party. Our State Chapters have been directed to work closely with their respective Governors and other stakeholders to guarantee that we have fully operational, permanent offices in every political ward and state. This will allow our members everywhere to have a meaningful presence in their localities.
"Such a step will ensure that party activities are active throughout the year, not just during campaign seasons and elections."
