Alleged IPOB member slain, others wounded in Anambra |
In Anambra, security forces have fatally shot a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and wounded three others who were attempting to enforce a sit-at-home order in the state.
The state police command, through its spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, announced that the IPOB members were confronted while riding a motorbike and subsequently opened fire.
During the clash, one individual was detained, while the remaining three fled, suffering gunshot wounds, as reported by Ikenga.
The Nation reports that the confrontation took place at the Oba flyover in the Idemili South Local Government Area.
Despite the police and security forces' reassurances, Anambra residents chose to remain indoors on Thursday.
Observations revealed that from Awka to Onitsha and Nnewi, every road in the state was deserted.
Construction workers in Ekwulobia, hired by Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the flyover connecting Oko, Igboukwu, and Amawbia, also left their work sites.
Throughout Anambra, not a single market, shop, or garage opened for business.
