The tragic loss of Yachilla Kyari, the defendant's mother, occurred on Sunday, May 5. Prior to this, Kyari had been denied bail twice, despite raising concerns about threats to his life from criminals he had prosecuted while at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
In a recent development, a Federal High Court in Abuja has granted temporary bail to former Commander of the Force Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari, due to the passing of his mother.
Justice Emeka Nwite issued an order on Wednesday, requiring Kyari to deposit N50 million along with a surety of equal value.
Furthermore, the surety, who will also serve as Kyari's counsel in the matter, must submit a copy of their call to bar certificate to the deputy registrar of the court.
This bail arrangement is in place while awaiting the ruling on Kyari's main bail application, which is scheduled for May 31, 2024.
