Recently, 47 individuals associated with Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) surrendered to the troops of the 403 Amphibious Brigade within the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Sector 3 in Nigeria. The group comprised seven men, nine women, and 31 children who turned themselves in at Kwatan Turare and Doron Baga in Borno State, Nigeria. These individuals had spent several years with the terrorist groups before deciding to surrender.

Among those who surrendered was Mallam Muazu Adamu, a known fighter within the Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihad (JAS) faction. He had operated under Commander Alai Gana and surrendered alongside his wife. The group members revealed that they had been engaged in farming activities before making their escape. The items found in their possession included clothes, blankets, mats, pots, plates, and other personal belongings.

Currently, the surrendered individuals are in custody and undergoing further investigation to ascertain additional details about their activities and affiliations. The MNJTF remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the Lake Chad basin region. This development represents a significant step in ongoing efforts to weaken the operational capabilities of terrorist groups in the area, and the MNJTF continues to encourage those involved in terrorist activities to surrender and embrace peace.
