2027: Obi Stipulates Condition for Alliance with PDP

Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) presidential nominee in the previous year's elections, has declared that any potential unification with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must primarily serve the nation's interests.

During a session on NoireTV-GlobalBlackTV, Obi also addressed the possibility of receiving backing as a Southeastern candidate in the 2027 presidential race from Atiku Abubakar, the PDP's candidate in 2023.

He insisted that any alliance should prioritize national interests over mere electoral gains or power acquisition.

This statement follows his recent dialogue with Atiku and the All Progressives Congress's (APC) claim that Atiku and Obi's shared eagerness to become Nigeria's president binds them.

"I will support an alliance that aims to govern Nigeria effectively and unlock the country's potential for improvement. However, if it's merely for electoral victory or power grab, I will not endorse or participate in such an arrangement," Obi articulated.

He acknowledged Atiku's willingness to support him should the presidential nomination be allocated to the Southeast, expressing gratitude for such a gesture.

Obi emphasized that his main focus is the prosperity of Nigeria and its citizens, not personal or political aspirations.

"My aspiration is not for the presidency; it is for a thriving Nigeria, particularly for the underprivileged, given our country's immense capabilities," he remarked.

Furthermore, he highlighted the necessity for unity and collaboration among individuals and political entities, provided the goal is the betterment of Nigeria.

"Whether it's within the party framework, at the individual level, or any other level, we need to unite to forge a more prosperous Nigeria," Obi concluded.
