Tinubu Appoints Gbenga Alade As AMCON CEO

The team is led by Gbenga Alade, a seasoned banker and financial expert, who will serve as the Managing Director/CEO of AMCON.

President Bola Tinubu has announced a series of appointments in key agencies under his administration, as part of his efforts to revamp the financial and digital sectors of the Nigerian economy.

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), which is responsible for resolving the non-performing loan assets of banks, has a new management team awaiting confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. The team is led by Gbenga Alade, a seasoned banker and financial expert, who will serve as the Managing Director/CEO of AMCON. He will be assisted by three Executive Directors: Aminu Ismail, Adeshola Lamidi, and Lucky Adaghe.

President Tinubu has expressed his confidence in the new AMCON team and urged them to work with dedication, professionalism, and transparency to ensure that AMCON operates more efficiently and effectively. He also reiterated his commitment to sanitizing the nation’s financial system and enhancing the value and confidence of investors.

In addition to the AMCON appointments, President Tinubu has also approved the appointment of qualified Nigerians to serve in three agencies under the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy. These agencies are the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited, and the Galaxy Backbone (BB) Limited.

The NCC, which is the regulatory body for the telecommunications industry, has two new Executive Commissioners: Abraham Oshadami, who will oversee the Technical Services, and Rimini Makama, who will handle the Stakeholder Management. The NCC also has a new President/CEO for its Digital Bridge Institute, which is a training and research center for ICT professionals. The new President/CEO is Opeyemi Dele-Ajayi, a renowned ICT expert and educator.

The NIGCOMSAT, which provides satellite communication services, has three new Executive Directors: Abiodun Attah, who will be in charge of the Technical Services; Aisha Abdullahi, who will manage the Finance & Administration; and Jaiyeola Awokoya, who will lead the Marketing & Business Development.

The Galaxy Backbone, which provides ICT infrastructure and services to government agencies, has a new Managing Director/CEO, Ibrahim Adepoju Adeyanju, a veteran ICT consultant and entrepreneur. He will be supported by three Executive Directors: Mohammed Sani Ibrahim, who will handle the Finance & Corporate Services; Olusegun Olulade, who will oversee the Customer Centricity & Marketing; and Olumbe Akinkugbe, who will direct the Digital Exploration & Technical Services.

President Tinubu has congratulated the new appointees and expressed his hope that they will deliver excellent service to elevate the impact of the digital economy sector on the socio-economic development of the nation.
