The robbers, who had been snatching cars at gunpoint and robbing innocent people, were caught in a series of raids by the police in Lagos and other states.
The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of eight notorious robbers who belonged to two different gangs that had been on the wanted list for their violent crimes in the state.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed this in a statement on Saturday. He said that the police detectives followed the trail of the robbers to Iwo in Osun State and Ibadan in Oyo State, where they were hiding after committing their atrocities in Lagos.
The robbers are: Dayo Afolabi, 27; Segun Osoyemi, 32; Toheeb Adetunji, 29; Tomiwa Okunlola, 30; Bashiru Lukmon, 22; Usman Hammed, 25; Ashiru Usman, 24 and Toheeb Oyekunle, 32.
Hundeyin also said that the robbers were behind the killing of a police officer and the theft of his rifle in Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State on December 9, 2023.
The rifle was recovered during the first set of arrests, along with other weapons and charms that the robbers used for their operations.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, praised the detectives for their professionalism and diligence. He also assured the residents of Lagos that the police would continue to work hard to ensure their safety and security.
