I share your pain and frustration over the recent difficulties faced by our people, especially the high cost of food items.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has called on the people of the state to fast and pray for God’s mercy and intervention over the economic challenges caused by inflation.

Zulum made this appeal in his address to the state, urging traditional leaders, religious leaders and citizens to join him in a one-day voluntary fast on Monday, 19, February, 2024, for the peace, prosperity and development of the state.

“I share your pain and frustration over the recent difficulties faced by our people, especially the high cost of food items. I know how hard this is for you and your families, and I want you to know that we are doing everything we can to solve this problem,” he said.

“Our government is committed to restoring agriculture in the state, with the aim of increasing food production and reducing our dependence on food aid.

“We are supporting modern farming methods, empowering local farmers, and encouraging agricultural innovation. Through this, we hope to not only make food items more affordable but also to provide lasting opportunities for our people,”

He said that his administration is working with relevant stakeholders especially those involved in the supply of essential commodities such as grains and building materials and has taken concrete measures to curb the inflation of these goods.

“Besides our efforts in agriculture, we are also enhancing the delivery of palliatives especially for residents in Maiduguri Metropolitan and Jere.

“As your Governor I want to assure you that we will keep improving healthcare, education and water supply,” Zulum said.
